Our Story
When Dr. Jaeck was setting up his research lab on 'Quantum Materials and Microscopy' at HKUST in Hong Kong, he realised that the existing positioning technology based on piezoelectric actuators failed to meet the most demanding specifications, such as highest precision, reliability, and mechanical stability even when operated under environmentally adverse conditions of low pressure and temperature. New ideas and solutions were needed to facilitate the development of novel microscopy techniques as part of his research portfolio.
Dr. Jaeck took matters into his own hands and completely redesigned nano positioning technology from scratch. This resulted in next-generation nano positioning stages that operate reliably under extreme and dynamically varying environmental parameters, offer superior mechanical stability, and a unique heat load management and thermalisation scheme. After filling for patent protection in the USA and China, he then founded Quano Technologies Limited together with his wife, Silvia Jaeck, to share this superior technology with others.
